Greater Noida

Noida is a planned city under the management of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, which is the full-form of NOIDA. It is located in Gautam Buddh Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh state and is the part of National Capital Region of India. Greater Noida is its administrative headquarters, whereas the District Magistrate lives in Noida. According to the provisional reports of Census of India in the year 2011, Noida population was approx. 642,381. Noida is one of the best planned cities in India, which is popular for its modern infrastructure and top amenities. Well, it is also known for its greenery and wider roads. Spread across 203.16 km2 city shares the border with Delhi and it is also reported that more than 50 percent of its population commute from Noida to Delhi for official works.


History of Noida

Noida came into administrative existence on 17th April 1976. The city was created under the UP Industrial Area Development Act in 1976 with initiatives of Sanjay Gandhi. Noida has always been an important center of trade and business and not only this, historians say that Noida is more than a business hub. Noida is believed to be the birth place of Ravana’s father. It is also believed that Guru Dronacharya from epic Mahabharta had his ashram in Noida, where the Pandavas and Kauravas used to train.

Noida was established as the part of urbanization uprising. Every year people celebrate 17th April as ´Noida Day´ with great zest and zeal.

Geography of Noida

Spread over an expansive 20.316 hectares, Noida is an important part of NCR. It is about 25 km southeast of New Delhi and 20 km northwest of the district headquarters Greater Noida and 457 km northwest of Lucknow, the state’s capital. Noida is bound on the west and southwest by the Yamuna River and located 30 km from New Delhi. In the south, Noida is bound by the meeting point of two rivers Yamuna and Hindon.

Noida Weather and Noida Temperature

Noida is 202m above sea level and the climate of Noida is typically hot and dry. In summer from March to June the temperature ranges from 48⁰C to 28 ⁰C. June is the warmest month of the year in Noida and during the year there is a little rainfall in the city. Winters in Noida is chilly and harsh, even it has fog and smog problems as well. Dense fog in January month, reduces the visibility on the streets.
